Terms of service

Last updated 21 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Alleviator. By signing in, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What Alleviator does

Alleviator checks websites and PDF documents against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and explains how to fix the problems it finds.

Automated testing can't find every accessibility problem. A report from Alleviator is not a certificate or a guarantee that a website or document is accessible or meets any law, and it isn't legal advice. Use the manual checklist in each report, and get professional advice where you need it.

Your account

You sign in with your Google account and are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your Google account secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your Alleviator account.

Using Alleviator fairly

  • Only scan websites, and upload documents, that you own or have permission to test.
  • Don't use Alleviator to overload, attack or get around the security of any website.
  • Don't try to get around plan limits, access other people's reports, or interfere with the service.
  • Don't resell Alleviator or its reports as your own automated service without our written permission.

Our scanner identifies itself as AlleviatorBot and follows the rules in each website's robots.txt file. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Plans and payment

The Free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown on our plans page. Pro is a monthly subscription, paid through Stripe, that renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your plan page; Pro then continues until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't give refunds for partial months, unless the law requires it.

We may change prices or plan limits. We'll tell Pro subscribers by email at least 30 days before a price change.

Your content

Your websites, documents and reports stay yours. You let us process them only to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy. You're free to share your reports however you like.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Alleviator running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve, change or stop features over time, and will give reasonable notice before removing anything Pro subscribers pay for.

Liability

Alleviator is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for claims about the accessibility of your website or documents. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.

Ending your use

You can stop using Alleviator at any time, and ask us to delete your account by emailing admin@alleviator.app. We may close accounts that break these terms.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you by email if the change is significant. Using Alleviator after a change means you accept the new terms. Questions? Email admin@alleviator.app.

Alleviator checks against WCAG 2.2 Levels A, AA and AAA. Automated testing finds many but not all barriers, so every report includes a manual review checklist for the rest.
